We were completely wowed when we first saw the beautiful colours in OPI’s new Holland Collection. This collection has everything from electric brights, to unashamedly girlie pinks, shimmery blues, glistening purples and even a fabulous Nude!
These shades will bring you right through spring and summer and the possibilities for the more creative of you are endless. And while we are on the subject of creative ….. We were absolutely thrilled when the nail genius that is Sue from Cherry Sue Doin the Do agreed to show us how to create a stunning design inspired by the collection.
Take it away Sue……
When I saw the initial pics and swatches for the OPI Holland collection SS/12, I was more than a little excited. OPI are, by far, my favourite polish brand for formulation, brush design, longevity and choice of colours and these offerings certainly didn’t disappoint. There’s something for everyone in here.
I figured taking literal inspiration from the collection was the way to go for an easy Spring/Summer mani that would make best use of the colours and stumbled upon this beautiful picture of the infamous tulip fields of Holland.
Starting with a base coat of I Have a Herring Problem, I used manicure tape (€2 approx from any good nail supply) to tape off each nail at an angle.
A coat of Thanks a Windmillion is then used to represent the fields on each nail.
Using a dotting tool (or a simple hair pin) make random dots with Red Lights Ahead..Where?, Kiss Me on My Tulips and Pedal Faster Suzi.
Using a black striper, I included a small windmill on my accent nail just for fun. It’s a simple triangle with two lines as the four blades.
A swish of topcoat and dat is alles!
This design (and each colour) actually lend ) actually lend themselves very well to being mattified too, I’ve included a pic for interests sake.
Not content with showing us how to create this fab design, Sue also shows us in the pics below how fab each colour looks on it’s own.
In the words of OPI Holland Thanks a windmillion Sue!
We can’t wait to try this ourselves. You can check out Sue’s fab blog here Cherry Sue Doin the Do. Her Monday moments alway bring a smile xx
