Which salicylic acid product should I start with?

A cleanser such as the CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser is the gentlest way in. For more targeted exfoliation, add a 2% BHA toner or serum, such as the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliating Toner.

Is salicylic acid good for blackheads?

Yes. Because it is oil-soluble, it helps keep pores clear, which helps with the look of blackheads. For persistent or severe acne, speak to your GP or a dermatologist.

Should I choose a salicylic acid cleanser or serum?

A cleanser is quick and gentle, as it is rinsed off. A leave-on toner or serum, such as The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, gives more targeted results.

Salicylic acid or niacinamide: which should I choose?
