Pigmentation

Dark spots, sun spots and uneven tone are often linked to sun exposure, breakouts and hormones. Brightening ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide and azelaic acid, plus gentle exfoliating acids, help fade the look of dark spots over time, and daily SPF helps stop new ones forming. For melasma, or any spot that changes in size, shape or colour, see your GP or a dermatologist.

Skin Concern FAQs

Which ingredient is best for dark spots?

Vitamin C, niacinamide and azelaic acid help brighten and even out the look of skin tone, while exfoliating acids and retinoids help with uneven texture and dullness. Choose one or two and give them a few months to show results.

Which SPF should I choose if I have pigmentation?

A broad-spectrum SPF 50 every day, all year round, such as Bioderma Photoderm Spot-Age SPF 50+. Without daily SPF, dark spots tend to come back.

When should I see a GP or dermatologist about pigmentation?

If you think you have melasma, if your pigmentation is spreading or not improving, or if any spot or mole changes in size, shape or colour.
